Port Douglas Wedding Photography – Wedding Moments
Despite popular belief, wedding photography is only about 3% sunsets, 7% kissing, 4% details and most of the rest are the moments. The moments are timeless.
A small snippet from Callie & Elton’s Port Douglas Wedding.
St Mary’s by the Sea Ceremony , Port Douglas Wedding of Karlie and Daniel
Karlie made all of the bridesmaids dresses as well as her own Wedding Dress, because weddings aren’t hard enough to organize right.
Karlie Jay and Daniel were married at St Mary’s by the Sea in Port Douglas followed by a reception party at The Sea Temple also in Port Douglas.
If it looks like fun it’s because it was.

A Port Douglas Wedding – Kylie & Ryan
A bottle of Dom Perignon followed by seemingly endless Moet, Kylie & Ryan had an AMAZING, Port Douglas Wedding. These guys know how to have a good time, up beat all day long and sooo happy to be together, it was effortless. As you can see in the photo’s, they had a fantastic time together. Their beautiful ceremony was at St Mary’s By the Sea followed by an outdoor reception by the water on the deck of the historic Sugar Wharf.
I love this set of pics. Enjoy
Port Douglas Wedding Photography – Fine art prints
Yes you can get cheap prints from Harvey Norman and the like, stupidly cheap actually, but besides a few bucks, why would you? If you could see examples of your wedding photographs professionally finished and printed on beautiful art papers side by side with prints from a general photo lab, it’s a no brainer. The look, feel and the archival qualities of the two are worlds apart. All of Port Douglas Photography’s wedding packages have a small fine art print component just so you can see what the good stuff looks like. Professional printing is a smart investment… END ADD
… Here’s some examples chosen by the newlyweds of some Port Douglas Weddings that I have finished and printed that are hanging pride of place somewhere right now. Feels good.

St Mary’s by the Sea Port Douglas – Kristy & Justin’s Wedding
I first met kristy about twelve months ago when she stumbled across my gallery while up here with her parents doing wedding research. I knew then that this was going to be an amazing wedding so really hoped that they would book me. They did
. A year later the wedding has come and gone and I was right It really was an incredible day.
The day started with the men getting ready, a few shots of them putting on their suits and then down to Rex Smeal park for a few more, Justin and the boys were down to earth and confident, no worries here, lots of fun had by all.
Then out to Bali Hai to hang with the ladies. When I arrived the crew from Port Douglas Catering and Events were hard at work setting up for the Reception and Rachel Gregory was applying the finishing touches the girls make up. I went about my business getting some shots of Kristy’s wedding details. Bali Hai is a perfect venue to photograph in, it always has beautiful light and lots of warm timber and nice tonal and textured walls. I’ve shot quite a few weddings there now, it feels a bit like my third office ( Pretty Beach being my second )
Kristy dressed and was picture perfect, a few more pics and then back to St Mary’s by the Sea in Port Douglas for the wedding ceremony.
St Mary’s by the Sea, Port Douglas is and amazing little wedding chapel. It’s a small timber non denominational wedding ceremony machine, it get’s busy ! If your reading this and considering a sea side chapel then I definitely recommend St Mary’s by the Sea.
After the ceremony there was a flower shower, a group shot and some family portraits. Then while the rest of the guests enjoyed some bubbles by the sea, Kristy, Justin and I went for a stroll through the park for a few shots. We then gathered the bridal party and slowly made our way back to Bali Hai in Stretch Chrysler style, stopping and starting along the way for more photo’s.
Port Douglas Catering had done it again, the reception under the bamboo looked magic. Fantastic band, fire eaters and a song from the groom, what a night.
Thanks very much guys for having me along to record this all for you. Awesome.
The pic’s – Enjoy ![]()

Yannick & Steven – Port Douglas Wedding
Yannick and Steven had a lovely wedding ceremony in the iconic St Mary’s by the Sea on the 8th of May this year. The photo shoot was very nice with a relaxed little tour of the Mowbray Valley. We followed this with a sunset walk through Rex Smeal Park and then down past the Sugar Wharf before the reception at Harrisons. Lovely.
I find that this is the very reason most couples choose Port Douglas for their destination wedding. It’s beautiful, romantic and very laid back. It may be a little daunting to organize from a far but I’m yet too attend a wedding here that hasn’t been exactly what the couple wanted.
Enjoy the pics, ![]()

Port Douglas Weddings, The Sugar Wharf.
Right behind St Mary’s by the Sea, is the historic Sugar Wharf which is quickly becoming a very popular spot for Port Douglas wedding receptions. It was once a working cargo wharf but at different stages has also been a shipwreck museum a restaurant and my mother used to also go to the Saturday night dance there over 40 years ago.
As a wedding venue it’s a fantastic choice. For starters it’s right on the water in the center of Port Douglas with incredible ocean and mountain views and a beach and beautiful park at the back. It has large indoor weather proof areas, enough for tables, dance floor, a band separate area for the caterers , pretty much whatever you might need. The outside boardwalk area is perfect for either a casual standing cocktail and canape reception or a beautifully themed outdoor seated reception. And aside from all of this it takes great photographs. Take a look
