A Newell Beach Wedding – Boonooloo Beach house

Shayna and Elvis held their wedding on the beautiful Newell Beach. They booked two amazing beach side properties, right next to each other and held the wedding ceremony and the wedding reception right there, didn’t have to move. Perfect.

The plan was to hold the wedding ceremony on Newell beach area under the coconut palms, unfortunately it was blowing a gale so it had to be moved indoors at the last minute. No big deal for these guys, a beautiful wedding ceremony.

Afterwards we braved the 40 knot winds for about 10 minutes for some  photography on Newell Beach and then decided to go inland to find some shelter.

Once the location photo’s were done we made our way back to Boonooloo Beach House for their rockin reception party.  Awesome wedding guys !!

Port Douglas Wedding Photography – Wedding Moments

Despite popular belief, wedding photography is only about 3% sunsets, 7% kissing,  4% details and most of  the rest are the moments. The moments are timeless.

Port Douglas Wedding Photography – The Sugar Wharf

The Port Douglas Sugar Wharf has become such a popular wedding venue over the past few years. It’s a great spot for a wedding ceremony and a perfect location for a wedding reception. It’s tucked away behind  the St Mary’s by the Sea, a popular wedding chapel in Port Douglas with it’s own little beach and cove. It overlooks the coral sea and rainforest covered mountains making it the perfect spot for your casual photos of your guests enjoying canapes and a cocktail while watching  the sun set.  If you would like more information on the Port Douglas Sugar Wharf you can contact your marriage celebrant ,  wedding caterer or call me for some advice. Always happy to help.

Wacky Bella – Port Douglas Children’s Portrait Photographer

Little Bella has the same wacky sense of humor as my zany seven year old daughter Sunday. A really fun & happy little girl. Love these.

Dasha & Simon’s – Engagement shoot

Since most of my Port Douglas brides and grooms are from somewhere other than Port Douglas, I thought while on a recent trip south I’d catch up with Victorian couple Simon and Dasha. Dasha had sent through some example pics a few weeks earlier so I could get an idea for the style of photography they were hoping for for their November wedding. Gritty, b&w, natural , fun couple shots and glamorous bridal portraits.

We spent a couple of hours together near Hanging Rock in country Victoria and kept the whole session pretty loose, I was thinking gritty and b&w overall but at the end when the autumn light turned it on , we just had to show some color.

I’m spending a bit of time in Victoria of late and happy to shoot while I’m there. Contact me if you’re keen.

Cairns & Port Douglas Wedding Photography – Stay tuned.

I don’t have any spare time at the moment, moving house, moving office. Albums to design, plenty of work to do. BUT the website is dated, I don’t love it anymore. So instead of sleep, I’m slowly plugging away at it.
The same but different is the way to go, a bit more info, MUCH better galleries and images, a new lease on life. Oh and this blog will no longer be hidden deep within it’s bowels , hopefully save me from the madness of talking to myself. ( I do wonder ?? If your out there say hi in the comments :( )
Here’s a glimpse, but it will probably change, has about 4 times to date :) oh and that image is a tasty little slideshow.

Port Douglas Wedding Photography – Fine art prints

Yes you can get cheap prints from Harvey Norman and the like, stupidly cheap actually, but besides a few bucks, why would you? If you could see examples of your wedding photographs professionally finished and printed on beautiful art papers side by side with prints from a general photo lab, it’s a no brainer. The look, feel and the archival qualities of the two are worlds apart. All of Port Douglas Photography’s wedding packages have a small fine art print component just so you can see what the good stuff looks like. Professional printing is a smart investment… END ADD :) … Here’s some examples chosen by the newlyweds of some Port Douglas Weddings that I have finished and printed that are hanging pride of place somewhere right now. Feels good.

Port Douglas family portraits !! – Little Henry

So with the tourists come the portraits. It’s perfect timing, everyones busy at home with work and sports and whatever else it is that takes up all of their time. So being together on a family holiday with nothing but family time, it just makes sense. I love these sessions, can’t wait to see who stops by this year.
Here’s little Henry from yesterday mornings shoot. He experienced his first wave and got a little sand between his toes. Needed a bit of help standing up in the 30 knot winds though, hahaha. Little bugger. :)
