Yannick and Steven had a lovely wedding ceremony in the iconic St Mary’s by the Sea on the 8th of May this year. The photo shoot was very nice with a relaxed little tour of the Mowbray Valley. We followed this with a sunset walk through Rex Smeal Park and then down past the Sugar Wharf before the reception at Harrisons. Lovely.
I find that this is the very reason most couples choose Port Douglas for their destination wedding. It’s beautiful, romantic and very laid back. It may be a little daunting to organize from a far but I’m yet too attend a wedding here that hasn’t been exactly what the couple wanted.
Enjoy the pics, ![]()

Posted by Shaun on March 29th, 2010Patricia and Ben were married on the 25th of March on a rainy wet season day in Port douglas, but they weren’t going to let that bother them – thats the spirit guys. They had a beautiful little ceremony in the Jungle perch at Silky Oaks Lodge followed by an amazing but no fuss photo shoot at a nearby location. We then made our way back to Port Douglas for some more rainy pics under the umbrellas on the Sugar Wharf. Patricia looked amazing in her beautiful vintage style gown and Ben did a great job, taking the reins with some solid groom work. I just stood back and took photos. Very natural, thanks guys.
We then said our goodbyes and they made their way to Salsa to meet up with the rest of their guests for what I’m sure was a night full of laughs.
Thanks again guys for choosing me to take your wedding photos. I hope you like the images as much as I do. xo
Cairns Wedding Photography – The wedding of Katie & Ross
Posted by Shaun on October 4th, 2009Yesterday I photographed the wedding of Katie & Ross. Ross is a Cairns local and Katie’s from somewhere in the US? Laid back but not at the sacrifice of a bit of cool Trinity beach wedding style. It’s great what you can do with a swimming pool, knocked up sign , some Bali flags, a guitar, a bunch of family and friends a pristine VW Kombi and the grace of Whitfield house. – Great wedding guys – Congrat’s !!
Palm Cove Ceremony -~- Port Douglas Reception. The Wedding of katie & Ryan
Posted by Shaun on October 2nd, 2009I shot a road trip wedding yesterday. This is when couples have their ceremony in one town and the reception in another. In Katie & Ryan’s case it was a midday wedding ceremony at the Angsana Resort in Palm Cove and then into the super stylin’ monster stretch Chrysler for a stop start Photo shoot along the Cook Highway to get to their wedding reception at the Sea Temple Resort country Club in Port Douglas. We then had an hour to cruise around the golf course on the buggies for some fun shots.
Thanks very much Katie & Ryan this was definitely in my in my top five fun weddings, zero stress+ heaps of great shots – here’s a few

Port Douglas Weddings- The wedding of Melissa & Michael
Posted by Shaun on September 22nd, 2009Melissa and Michael were married in Port Douglas in April this year. They had their ceremony in the chapel in the grounds of the Sheraton Mirage and their reception by the pool. Great to work with, Melissa moved really naturally, the camera loved her and Michael was a solid man prop’,…. good confident grooms work Michael, job well done.
Like a lot of couples I’ve been booking lately they chose not to purchase an album package instead choosing a disk and print package. Here’s a few I plucked out and tinkered with a little just for the blog, there were HEEEAAAPS more. I ‘ll have to try to find some time in the summer to put a little studio display album together, It’ll be a cracker.
Port Douglas Weddings – upside down groom

Posted by Shaun on September 1st, 2009The Wedding of Nicola & Mark, Angsana resort and Spa, Palm Cove, Cairns.
Posted by Shaun on August 21st, 2009Nicola and Mark, had a group of around 50 family and friends fly in to help them celebrate their May 16 Cairns Wedding and Port Douglas Photography was honored to be invited along to capture their wedding memories. The brief once again, was natural, fun and honest. Nicola showed me some images taken by Infinity and Blumenthal photography ( Sydney based ) that she had taken from a magazine to give me an idea for her preferred style, wedding photojournalism. I accepted the challenge no problems as it’s my favorite way to shoot. The skill with wedding photojournalism is to not only capture key moments but to do it beautifully and tell the story. ( Photojournalism is often used as an excuse for mediocre photography
watch out!! )
Anyway, Nicola and Mark are a gorgeous couple and I had an absolute blast on their wedding day. Nicola is elegance at its extreme and Mark the perfect gentleman who’s speech was probably the highlight of the wedding for me,
all the drama, heartfelt honesty, love, loss tears and laughter that a good grooms speech should have. ( Melodramatic but true , love a good wedding speech)
So here’s some pics, it was to windy to spend much time on the beach that day so we ducked for cover and went inland, – Windy in Palm Cove ??? Wedding Photojournalism ? not quite – about 85% but I love this set of images.
Enjoy!!
PS – Nicola’s veil – French Silk, beautiful.
