Yannick & Steven – Port Douglas Wedding

Posted by Shaun on July 13th, 2010

Yannick and Steven had a lovely wedding ceremony in the iconic St Mary’s by the Sea on the 8th of May this year. The photo shoot was very nice with a relaxed little tour of the Mowbray Valley. We followed this with a sunset walk through Rex Smeal Park and then down past the Sugar Wharf before the reception at Harrisons. Lovely.
I find that this is the very reason most couples choose Port Douglas for their destination wedding. It’s beautiful, romantic and very laid back. It may be a little daunting to organize from a far but I’m yet too attend a wedding here that hasn’t been exactly what the couple wanted.
Enjoy the pics, :)

Mel & Jase,

Yesterday was a fantastic day. Thanks very much for choosing me to take your wedding pics. Now hurry up and have some babies so I can take some photos of them too. LOL . Here’s a sneak peek, we’ve got some great shots!!

Mel & Jason were married at St Davids anglican church in Mossman yesterday in front of 40 or so of their closest family and friends, followed by a reception at The Sea Temple in Port Douglas. 1clow1blow

Patricia & Ben’s Port Douglas Wedding

Posted by Shaun on March 29th, 2010

Patricia and Ben were married on the 25th of March on a rainy wet season day in Port douglas, but they weren’t going to let that bother them – thats the spirit guys. They had a beautiful little ceremony in the Jungle perch at Silky Oaks Lodge followed by an amazing but no fuss photo shoot at a nearby location. We then made our way back to Port Douglas for some more rainy pics under the umbrellas on the Sugar Wharf. Patricia looked amazing in her beautiful vintage style gown and Ben did a great job, taking the reins with some solid groom work. I just stood back and took photos.  Very natural, thanks guys.

We then said our goodbyes and they made their way to Salsa to meet up with the rest of their guests for what I’m sure was a night full of laughs.

Thanks again guys for choosing me to take your wedding photos. I hope you like the images as much as I do. xo

Port Douglas Weddings, The Sugar Wharf.

The Sugar Wharf

The Historic Sugar Wharf, Port Douglas

Right behind St Mary’s by the Sea, is the historic Sugar Wharf which is quickly becoming a very popular spot for Port Douglas wedding receptions. It was once a working cargo wharf but at different stages has also been a shipwreck museum  a restaurant and my mother used to also go to the Saturday night dance there over 40 years ago.

As a wedding venue it’s a fantastic choice. For starters it’s right on the water in the center of Port Douglas with incredible ocean and mountain views and a beach and beautiful park at the back. It has large indoor weather proof areas, enough for tables, dance floor, a band  separate  area for the caterers , pretty much whatever you might need. The outside boardwalk area is perfect for either a casual standing cocktail and canape reception or a beautifully themed outdoor seated reception. And aside from all of this it takes great photographs. Take a look :)

So I was taking some post ceremony photographs on the sugar wharf a month or so ago when out of a hole in the wall came the  Sugar Wharf Cat. Straight under the dress head out, “smile” click – great shot !! :) cat low res
