Yannick and Steven had a lovely wedding ceremony in the iconic St Mary’s by the Sea on the 8th of May this year. The photo shoot was very nice with a relaxed little tour of the Mowbray Valley. We followed this with a sunset walk through Rex Smeal Park and then down past the Sugar Wharf before the reception at Harrisons. Lovely.
I find that this is the very reason most couples choose Port Douglas for their destination wedding. It’s beautiful, romantic and very laid back. It may be a little daunting to organize from a far but I’m yet too attend a wedding here that hasn’t been exactly what the couple wanted.
Enjoy the pics, ![]()

Catherine & Nathan, A Port Douglas Wedding
Posted by Shaun on April 19th, 2010Catherine & Nathan had an intimate ceremony on the grounds of Bale resort. Just a few family members were present, including their special little girl , Alana Joy as their flower (eating) girl. The lead up to the ceremony was really calm with dads classical music an interesting soundtrack to photograph the bridal prep’ to. Not my usual choice of music but I liked it, felt like I was in a movie hahaha.
The ceremony was a very personal one, and very special to photograph.
Honestly, sometimes when photographing a ceremony, although sensitive to it, you can find yourself just going about your business, getting the job done, lines, light, composition, color. Other times you get dragged in and really get a feel for the couple and their family and it can be a pretty full on experience. This was one of those times.( A bit dramatic I know, but true.)
Afterwards we went for a casual walk around the resort for some natural pics, and then jumped in the car to head out to the sugar cane fields. Nathan had seen some shots on my site that he liked so I took them out to the same spot for a bit of a play.
Thanks very much guys. I had a great day.

Patricia & Ben’s Port Douglas Wedding
Posted by Shaun on March 29th, 2010Patricia and Ben were married on the 25th of March on a rainy wet season day in Port douglas, but they weren’t going to let that bother them – thats the spirit guys. They had a beautiful little ceremony in the Jungle perch at Silky Oaks Lodge followed by an amazing but no fuss photo shoot at a nearby location. We then made our way back to Port Douglas for some more rainy pics under the umbrellas on the Sugar Wharf. Patricia looked amazing in her beautiful vintage style gown and Ben did a great job, taking the reins with some solid groom work. I just stood back and took photos. Very natural, thanks guys.
We then said our goodbyes and they made their way to Salsa to meet up with the rest of their guests for what I’m sure was a night full of laughs.
Thanks again guys for choosing me to take your wedding photos. I hope you like the images as much as I do. xo
The Wedding of Alison & Dean
Posted by Shaun on March 1st, 2010Busy, Busy , Busy. A new season is about to begin and I’m almost ready to go, just a few albums to design and then into it. I can’t wait get to the end already so I can look back over the years folio. I’ve changed my packages this year also and expect them to be very blog friendly, meaning that I should be stopping by here more often.
Here are a few pics from the Port Douglas wedding of Alison & Dean. They were married here late last year in Rex Smeal park, a casual wedding out on the point under the coconut palms. We had a great time on the shoot just taking a stroll around the park. Nice and natural ,I’ll post some more soon.
Port Douglas Wedding photography
Posted by Shaun on November 18th, 2009Ok, I know it’s been a while. I’ve been so busy getting portraits and weddings out to couples before Christmas that I’ve had to neglect the blog.
Here are a couple of recent pics to tie you over until I make everything blog worthy.
This Is Adam & Eva ……Really. They had an intimate private ceremony in the oldest rainforest in the world with only their immediate family at the beautiful Shambala, a private house in the hills of Whyanbeal. Really, really beautiful.
So… I’ve photographed an Adam & Eva in a garden of Eden ( well Whyanbeal ). And yes, there were fruit trees and snakes . It’s on my resume’.
Cheers,
Shaun.

Port Douglas Weddings- The wedding of Melissa & Michael
Posted by Shaun on September 22nd, 2009Melissa and Michael were married in Port Douglas in April this year. They had their ceremony in the chapel in the grounds of the Sheraton Mirage and their reception by the pool. Great to work with, Melissa moved really naturally, the camera loved her and Michael was a solid man prop’,…. good confident grooms work Michael, job well done.
Like a lot of couples I’ve been booking lately they chose not to purchase an album package instead choosing a disk and print package. Here’s a few I plucked out and tinkered with a little just for the blog, there were HEEEAAAPS more. I ‘ll have to try to find some time in the summer to put a little studio display album together, It’ll be a cracker.
