Posted by Shaun on March 2nd, 2010This is the third, possibly fourth time I’ve photographed Evie & Asher. In fact , these guys were one of my very first ever children’s portrait sessions about four years ago. It’s a perk of the job being able to watch children grow through the lens. Mother Meredith invited me back around to their house yesterday afternoon so we could get some pics of the two of them with their prize winning chooks ( Fluffy came first at last years Mossman show, Good Chook !!) After we’d finished there we jumped in our cars and went out the road a little bit to carry on the country theme. It was hot, and there were midgees but the shots look fantastic (how could I go wrong with subjects like these). Thanks again Guys, hope you like them

Posted by Shaun on September 10th, 2009I photographed little Jack earlier in the year while his parents were on holidays in Port Douglas. It was a great session out at Pretty Beach with some really beautiful light. Jack’s a very cute little fella so this was easy. :)
The majority of my family and children’s portrait sessions are with people that are here for a family holiday. I hear it all the time. They have been wanting to have family portraits done but they are just to busy at home to organize it so it makes perfect sense to do it while on holidays. Everyone’s relaxed they have all of the time in the world and between Port Douglas and Cairns are some of the most beautiful and private beaches in Queensland.

Posted by Shaun on August 25th, 2009Yvonne and her children, Larissa & Jordan and I took a trip to the beach for a Sunday afternoon portrait session last week. Although older, these guys have the same age difference as my own children ( 5yr old daughter and twin 2 1/2 year old boys) , so it was really interesting for me to see them together. They’re good mates and really made each other laugh which made for a fun shoot.
I’ve noticed this year that I’ve been booking a lot more teenage portrait sessions than previous years. This is something that is VERY popular in the states especially with 16-18 year olds, but hasn’t been as popular here in Australia. It’s very different to shooting children. They are much more aware of how they like to look and what a good photograph is which can make for some really interesting and artistic portraits. I’ve got some great ideas so if you out there and like the idea of some fashion / art portraits or for that matter have any ideas yourself , let me know and we can work together to get some amazing shots .
Here’s a couple from Larissa & Jordans shoot, nice and natural. I’ll post some more soon.

Cairns & Port Douglas Portrait Photography, The Dupuche Children, July 09
Posted by Shaun on August 24th, 2009I first met Katrina & David Dupuche 3 years ago at the Port Douglas Markets where I was lucky enough to be asked to photograph their two children, Josh and Lucy . We had a great shoot , and came away with some really fun composite images of the kids. Well three years later 2 year old Alice is now part of the family so at the start of the year David called me up and asked me if I could do a family update for them as they were coming back to town in July.”Great I’d love to” , so we did. Here’s a few.
Cheers,

And this is the series for Alice to match the one’s I’d designed for Josh & Lucy three years earlier.
