I first met kristy about twelve months ago when she stumbled across my gallery while up here with her parents doing wedding research. I knew then that this was going to be an amazing wedding so really hoped that they would book me. They did
. A year later the wedding has come and gone and I was right It really was an incredible day.
The day started with the men getting ready, a few shots of them putting on their suits and then down to Rex Smeal park for a few more, Justin and the boys were down to earth and confident, no worries here, lots of fun had by all.
Then out to Bali Hai to hang with the ladies. When I arrived the crew from Port Douglas Catering and Events were hard at work setting up for the Reception and Rachel Gregory was applying the finishing touches the girls make up. I went about my business getting some shots of Kristy’s wedding details. Bali Hai is a perfect venue to photograph in, it always has beautiful light and lots of warm timber and nice tonal and textured walls. I’ve shot quite a few weddings there now, it feels a bit like my third office ( Pretty Beach being my second )
Well Kristy got dressed and was picture perfect, a few more pics and then back to St Mary’s by the Sea for the ceremony.
The ceremony was beautiful.
Afterwards there was a flower shower, a group shot and some family portraits. Then while the rest of the guests enjoyed some bubbles by the sea, Kristy, Justin and I went for a stroll through the park for a few shots. We then gathered the bridal party and slowly made our way back to Bali Hai in Stretch Chrysler style, stopping and starting along the way for more pics.
Port Douglas Catering had done it yet again, the reception under the bamboo looked magical. Fantastic band, fire eaters and a song from the groom, what a great night.
So thanks very much guys for having me along to record this all for you. I had a great time.
Here’s some pic’s – Enjoy ![]()

Kristy & Justin’s Port Douglas wedding.
Posted by Shaun on August 19th, 2010Yannick & Steven – Port Douglas Wedding
Posted by Shaun on July 13th, 2010Yannick and Steven had a lovely wedding ceremony in the iconic St Mary’s by the Sea on the 8th of May this year. The photo shoot was very nice with a relaxed little tour of the Mowbray Valley. We followed this with a sunset walk through Rex Smeal Park and then down past the Sugar Wharf before the reception at Harrisons. Lovely.
I find that this is the very reason most couples choose Port Douglas for their destination wedding. It’s beautiful, romantic and very laid back. It may be a little daunting to organize from a far but I’m yet too attend a wedding here that hasn’t been exactly what the couple wanted.
Enjoy the pics, ![]()

Port Douglas Wedding- Rachel & Brett
Posted by Shaun on July 1st, 2010Busy, Busy, Busy school holidays are here so I’m shooting a lot of family portraits at the moment, I’ll blog them soon.
But for now here’s a few from yesterdays wedding. Rachel and Brett were married at St Mary’s by the Sea in front of a small group of family and friends.
We then went on THE PHOTO TOUR – On to the Sugar Wharf, out to the cane fields, across the bridge and back to the beach. Awesome couple and lots of great shots. Unfortunately I only have time to post a few that caught my eye, maybe more later
enjoy !!

Port Douglas Weddings- Kerrie & Adam
Posted by Shaun on June 15th, 2010Patricia & Ben’s Port Douglas Wedding
Posted by Shaun on March 29th, 2010Patricia and Ben were married on the 25th of March on a rainy wet season day in Port douglas, but they weren’t going to let that bother them – thats the spirit guys. They had a beautiful little ceremony in the Jungle perch at Silky Oaks Lodge followed by an amazing but no fuss photo shoot at a nearby location. We then made our way back to Port Douglas for some more rainy pics under the umbrellas on the Sugar Wharf. Patricia looked amazing in her beautiful vintage style gown and Ben did a great job, taking the reins with some solid groom work. I just stood back and took photos. Very natural, thanks guys.
We then said our goodbyes and they made their way to Salsa to meet up with the rest of their guests for what I’m sure was a night full of laughs.
Thanks again guys for choosing me to take your wedding photos. I hope you like the images as much as I do. xo

Mission Beach Weddings – The Wedding of Melanie & Gary
Posted by Shaun on September 14th, 2009I was lucky enough to be asked to photograph Mel & Gary’s wedding in Mission Beach at the fantastic Elandra resort last week. I’d never been to Mission Beach before so I was keen to get down there and have a look around – what a beautiful place! It was a hot sunny day and we got some really great images. I shot from 9:30 am till 11pm, a very long day but a lot of fun. Aside from all of the usual great wedding stuff I got to see the full moon rise over Dunk Island and set in the morning while making my 3 hour Fathers day dash home to the family. Always time for a moon set photo especially when there’s a bit of fog layin’ around.
All of this followed by a day at 4 mile beach with the monsters. Happy Fathers day me
