There are many beautiful locations for Weddings around Port Douglas & Cairns, some of the smaller beaches and private houses are amongst my fav’s.
Places like Shambala, Mali Mali and Bali Hai, all set in hills amongst the rainforest are some of my favorite venues for small to mid sized wedding ceremonies and receptions. They are all amazing properties with their own unique open living, tropical architecture and amazing gardens and unique photography locations. There’s also a row of great beach Houses along Newel Beach that make great beach wedding ceremony / reception venues.
There’s something quite raw about these areas as well. I love Newell beach, it’s a photographers dream. ( well this photographers )
Clare & Clay, were married a while back. They chose the beautiful award winning Mali Mali as both their wedding ceremony and wedding reception. It’s a pretty small venue, probably holds a max of around 40 ish people ??
It’s on the very top of a hill, with 360deg views out to the coral sea and back into the rainforest. It’s an amazing house.
Clare & Clay chose not to have me photograph their preperations, only 10 mins or so with Clare, I would have preferred longer, I love the prep stages for the more candid photography moments they offer.
A happy little ceremony out the back of the house and then down to Newell Beach for some location shots. It was windy, but it worked. These guys were softly spoken and really natural in their approach to the day and how it would unfold. This shows in the photographs. Lots of honest really sincere moments. Back up to Mali Mali for a meal with friends and family. The last shot being the view from the Mali Mali deck of a Port Douglas twilight.
The Photographs – Still experimenting with some different color recipes and you may also notice the new blog layout, changed back to the same as my original posts. Always new those curved corners were gonna date for me.
